- Fields and facilitates incoming phone calls for the doctor, and provides a point of contact for pet owners and referring veterinarians.
- Provides patient progress reports, fills prescriptions as needed, and assists with owners visiting their hospitalized pets.
- Prepares pets for their discharge from the hospital and ensures that everything the client needs to care for their pet at home is communicated, prepared and arranged.
- Manages medical records, reports, and log correspondence with clients.
- Guides clients dealing with euthanasia by walking them through the process before, and by finalizing afterlife care.
Qualifications
Required
- Previous experience working in veterinary facility or a medical facility.
- Medical terminology skills and knowledge of various procedures, medication names and uses preferred.
- Strong attendance, punctuality and time management.
- Telephone and computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Effectively present medical and financial information to clients and employees.
- Friendly, outgoing, and detail oriented.
- Capable of being cross trained - requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, bites, and odors.
- A team player and eager to learn new things.
- Display compassion for pets and people.
- Ability to work in a very active, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours of varying shifts - including nights, weekends, and holidays.

VCA South Shore (Weymouth) Animal Hospital is seeking a skilled individual to work with our team of doctors in our ICU at our hybrid, 24-hour emergency/multi-specialty practice in South Weymouth, Massachusetts.

**What is an ICU Liaison?**
An ICU Liaison is the point person who helps bridge the communication between the doctor and the client.
+ Provides a clear expectation of what to expect during the patient's stay, from presentation to discharge. Keeping the owner informed during every step, as well as maintaining communications with the front desk, technicians, emergency doctors and primary veterinarian as needed.
