The Field Service Controls Technician at Cleaning Technologies Group is responsible for supervising the installation and startup of machines at customers' plants, maintaining all working components as per customers' needs, and performing field troubleshooting on both warranty and repair orders. Responsibilities

  • Travel to customers' location(s) to supervise installation of our machines at the customer's plant and perform startup of new machine.
  • Perform field trouble shooting on both warranty and repair orders.
  • Review jobs in the shop as production is in progress for possible field service problems.
  • Perform electrical fault/functions on customer's machinery, including PLC diagnostics.
  • Support customers and other technicians with electrical & program troubleshooting via phone and remote connections.
  • Assist engineering dept with machine runoffs and pre-ship program checks.
  • Work in various software systems.
  • Training of other employees and/or customers on machines.
  • Prepare service reports on jobs in the fields.
  • Assist Field Service Supervisor when required.
  • May assist in training of temporary /new employees.

Qualifications

Required

  • Two-year College degree or Trade School Certificate in electrical engineering
  • 2-3 years of technical experience in manufacturing automation, material handling, and/or machine control
  • Product component level knowledge and program trouble shooting experience
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Exemption Classification: Hourly, Non-exempt

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS to PERFORM DUTIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Supervise installation and startup of machines at the customers' plant and maintain all working components as determined by customers' needs.

2. Travel to customers' location(s) to supervise installation of our machines at the customer's plant and perform startup of new machine.

3. Perform field trouble shooting on both warranty and repair orders.

4. Review jobs in the shop as production is in progress for possible field service problems.

5. Perform electrical fault/functions on customer's machinery, including PLC diagnostics.

6. Support customers and other technicians with electrical & program troubleshooting via phone and remote connections.

7. Assist engineering dept with machine runoffs and pre-ship program checks.

8. Work in various software systems.

9. Training of other employees and/or customers on machines.

10. Prepare service reports on jobs in the fields.

11. Assist Field Service Supervisor when required.

12. Other functions as directed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May assist in training of temporary /new employees.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

Education and/or Experience:

Two-year College degree or Trade School Certificate in electrical engineering and/or 2-3 years of technical experience in manufacturing automation, material handling, and/or machine control. Must have product component level knowledge and program trouble shooting experience. Position requires multiple projects be handled at one time.

Language Skills:

Communicate verbally and/or in writing with other employees, other departments, supervision and customer relating to work in progress, problems and/or completion. Must be able to present information to groups of employees, customers, vendors etc.

Mathematical Skills:

College level mathematics.

Reasoning Ability:

Be able to identify work process problems and possible solutions.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:

Maintain local, regional and/or national memberships in appropriate professional organizations/associations.

Physical Demands:

Stand for prolonged periods of time on concrete floor. Will be required to kneel, squat, stoop, recline, climb, crawl, and/or bend on an as needed basis. Must be able to adjust visual focus. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, over 50 lbs with assistance of a lifting device.

Work Environment:

Traditional shop atmosphere. Subject to temperature variance based on season. Loud noise level. May be exposed to various fumes or smells based on job.

Travel:

Occasional travel throughout North America to customer jobsite for startups, machine commissioning, and warranty work as dictated by project. Some International travel required. Average travel estimated at 65-75%.
