The Interventional Radiologic Technologist performs technical and interventional radiographic assignments, exercising complex skill, judgement, and knowledge of the principles and methods of radiologic technology. Responsibilities
- Performs technical and interventional radiographic assignments.
- Exercises complex skill, judgement and knowledge of the principles and methods of radiologic technology.
- Performs diagnostic radiographic interventional studies as requested.
- Performs a variety of duties in conjunction with the radiologist to perform radiographic procedures not requiring supervision.
- Performs radiographic procedures of a highly specialized nature such as angiograms, biopsies and other interventional exams.
- Assumes responsibility for quality assurance and patient flow in special procedures as required.
- Performs infection control according to universal precautions.
- Provides diagnostic radiographic procedures to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and interventional studies to adult and geriatric patients.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum: Radiologic Technology program in AMA approved 2 year program or AAS degree in Radiologic Technology.
- NYS license required.
- Completion of 24 month course by a recognized AMA approved school in radiology.
- Maintains mandatory CEC - 12 per year.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
- Computer literacy.
Preferred
- Interventional certification through AART
- One year experience in Interventional Radiology
- Experience as a scrub technician
