The Nurse Practitioner in Gyn/Onc at PeaceHealth will be responsible for a new service supporting oncology patients in the community. This role involves assisting with triaging patients, writing orders for and seeing patients undergoing chemotherapy, managing chemotherapy side effects, seeing post-operative patients with complications, including occasional rounding at the hospital. Responsibilities

  • Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice.
  • Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, allowing for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
  • Gives directions to nursing and other staff.
  • Prescribes medications and treatments and ongoing medication management.
  • Orders lab and diagnostic tests when appropriate and interprets test results.
  • Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
  • Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records.
  • Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature, or "hands-on training" and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Must fulfill educational requirements to obtain ARNP license in State of Practice
  • Nurse Practitioner license in Oregon, Washington, or Alaska
  • Drug Enforcement Administration license
  • Valid Driver's License with proof of auto insurance
  • Basic Life Support certification upon hire
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development to meet each patient's needs
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work productively with patient, families, nursing staff, and other departments
  • Personal responsibility for ongoing educational growth and collaborating with others to provide solutions for continued patient quality

Preferred

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Experience in OBGYN and with procedures including colposcopies and biopsies
  • Flexibility with schedule
  • Minimum of 1 year of post-training NP experience, preferably in Oncology
  • Experience in procedural and imaging departments
  • Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (ACHPN) certification
  • PICC line placement and management experience
  • Experience designing/implementing clinical trials or studies

+ New service in the OB Gyn department

+ Clinic hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
