The Machinist/Machining Technician at the Marysville Auto Plant is a critical role responsible for machining/manufacturing of stamping dies, aluminum die cast or plastic injection molds, and instrument panel jigs across North America. This position supports new technology and technology transfer, provides production and emergency support related to manufacturing issues, and seeks process and quality improvement opportunities. The role requires onsite work, including use of overhead cranes and working in dusty and dirty environments, with occasional travel for support or training.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures molds, dies, and jigs are running properly for production by following standard procedures.
  • Partners with a more experienced Technician to troubleshoot and repair tooling and leverages knowledge gained from training to begin independent troubleshooting of "low" risk items.
  • Proactively looks for/identifies potential for process and quality improvement and calls to attention of Supervisor; may occasionally participate in developing recommendations.
  • Supports new model activity, as assigned by project leader and/or Leadership.
  • Participates in checks, tests, trials etc. under supervision of more experienced Technicians and/or Leadership.
  • Utilizes assistance of other Technicians assigned to the job, as appropriate.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2 Years of Related Experience (welding, machining, etc.) or qualifying degree
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred

  • Large to medium NC Machining Center operation experience
  • Large to medium Die, Mold MC experience
  • Basic computer skills (Word PPT Excel)
  • “At MC” programming experiences (G-code)

About this Position:
Technician role critical to machining/manufacturing of stamping dies, aluminum die cast or plastic injection molds, and instrument panel jigs at all auto plants across North America. Support new technology and technology transfer from Japan/NA development teams into production across North America production facilities. Provide production and/or emergency support related to manufacturing issues in support of production.

Who we are seeking:

Required Work Experience:

  • 2 Years of Related Experience (welding, machining, etc.) or qualifying degree

Required Education:

Additional Position Factors:

  • Workstyle: Onsite
  • Travel: 5%
  • This role requires Associate to machine and mature production tooling for mass production. Requires use of overhead cranes, working inside and outside of machine enclosures. Often dusty and dirty environment. Occasional travel to plants for support or training may be required. Overtime, weekend, and holiday work is a requirement to be successful in this position. Note this position is off shift (“C”shift)
