Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric coverage for psychiatric inpatients on Deskovick 5 on weekends and holidays.
- Provide psychiatric consultation for medical-surgical inpatients on weekends and holidays.
- Work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team on Deskovick 5 comprised of nurses, social workers, therapists.
- Work collaboratively with the mental health professionals in the crisis intervention services and respond to requests for psychiatric consultation from the Emergency Department.
- Supervise medical students and residents on call over the weekends and on holidays.
- Provides and develops clinical consultation services in various areas of the Hospital.
- Provides timely consultation to Deskovick 5 staff in person or via telephone for any psychiatric issues within the D-5 Unit.
- Consults with and supervises, as appropriate, the Deskovick 5 team members to determine the course of patient treatment and recommendations for discharge.
- Provides timely psychiatric evaluations, follow-up and medication monitoring of patients in treatment in the Inpatient Unit and other hospital services. Provides psychotherapy as clinically needed.
- Provides timely emergency psychiatric consultations to the medical and surgical floors of Morristown Medical Center.
- Provides clinical supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist working in hospital programs.
- Provides timely consultation to the inpatient staff.
- Assumes responsibility for the development and execution of consultative services in various departments throughout the Hospital.
