Qualifications

Required

  • Willingness to uphold and support The Salvation Army's mission and ministry
  • Associate degree (AA) and at least two years' experience in relative work preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Mail Merge and PowerPoint as well as Google Forms
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Applies tact in diplomacy with internal and external constituents
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable in high profile situations as well as with 'sleeve rolled up'
  • Ability to operate independently - self-motivated, self-management
  • Highly organized
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to routinely lift and carry grocery bags and boxes weighing 25 pounds or more
  • Training in food safety and handling through Health Department, as needed

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:The Food Service Manager will be responsible for all food pantry coordination and execution at The Salvation Army in Albany and is responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, reporting statistics, ordering supplies, organizing the pantry, tracking services, and working in conjunction with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY, as well as with, the Food Pantries For the Capital District, the Alliance for Better Health for the "Food As Medicine" and "PACE" programs. This position will also be responsible for ordering fresh food and coordinating delivery and/or pickup with local farmers for the NY Food for NY Families program, as well as other food donations.
