The Mentor Coordinator for Afterschool Programs and the Mentor Coordinator for In-school Programs at The New York Academy of Sciences will support the expansion of the Academy's Afterschool STEM Mentoring program and in-school mentoring program, respectively.   • Provide leadership, direction, and organization for mentors serving in the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Support the expansion of our in-school mentoring program and community programs such as Scientist-in-Residence and Chat with a Scientist.
  • Focus on mentor recruitment and engagement, resource building, volunteer management.
  • Create systems to improve support to volunteers.

  • Ability to work full-time starting in September.
  • Eligibility for an AmeriCorps service year.

The Mentor Coordinator for Afterschool Programs will support the expansion of the Academy's Afterschool STEM Mentoring program in the five boroughs by supporting mentor recruitment, mentor management, and data review/reporting. The Mentor Coordinator will aid in identifying recruiting partners, streamlining mentor trainings, and building an ongoing mentor community. The Mentor Coordinator for In-school Programs will provide leadership, direction, and organization for the mentors serving in the 2024-2025 academic year, ensuring the mentors and partner organizations have a successful experience. This position will work to build capacity by supporting expansion of our in-school mentoring program, such as Scientist-in-Residence, as well as community programs such as Chat with a Scientist.
