\nPosition Summary:
\n
\nThe Respite Provider will provide short-term relief to caregivers who are responsible for the primary care and support of individuals with developmental disabilities. Participants (of all ages) receiving respite services through Easterseals NY- Rochester Recreation Respite waiver program. In-home respite - is an indirect service, providers are responsible for the primary care, supervision and support of individuals with in their own home. Recreation respite- providers are responsible for primary care, supervision and support of individuals during social and recreational activities within the community.

\nEssential Job Functions:
\n
\n+ Provide protective oversight for assigned individual.
\n
\n+ Provide assistance with personal care if applicable and as needed, as well as provide reminders and simple assistance for activities such as eating.
\n
\n+ Follow service plan designed by the care coordination team.
\n
\n+ Encourage individual toward self-reliance.
\n
\n+ Understand and respect the confidentiality of the individual and family.
\n
\n+ Accept responsibility for compliance with all policies, procedures and service requirements of Easterseals and the Respite programs
\n
\n+ Complete and maintain all required documentation required for position.
\n
\n+ Work in accordance with state HCBS Waiver Key, OPWDD and Agency policies & procedures and regulations required for provision of services, documentation, and training needs.
\n
\n+ Demonstrate ability to receive supervision from multiple supervisors when appropriate, cooperating with the individual, primary caregiver, family and program supervisor.
\n
\n+ Follow protocols and procedures for emergency situations.
\n
\n+ Computer Skills & Literacy - Basic Computer Literacy as evidenced by the ability to use basic Internet, check his/her email account, create and send e-mail with an attachment and use simple email features. Can open spreadsheets and word processing documents to read and make simple edits.
\n
\n+ Ability to communicate effectively maintain cooperative and regular communication / correspondences with supervisor, program administrative team, other employees of the agency and clientele as necessary even if not actively scheduled to work.
\n
\n+ Recreation only - Transports youth, families and staff in a safe manner as requested for program.
\n

\nExperience and Education:
\n
\n+ High School, GED and/or equivalent Diploma.
\n
\n+ Experience working with children and adults, particularly those diagnosed with Autism or other developmental disabilities.
\n
\n+ Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
\n
\n+ Able to meet the physical, emotional and intellectual needs of children and adults diagnosed with a developmental disability.
\n
\n+ Able to work independently, flexible, varied hours in multiple locations -- days, evenings, and weekends -- as necessary in order to meet the needs of individuals served.
\n
\n+ Ability to work in a minimally supervised setting.
\n
\n+ Computer Skills & Literacy as required for essential job duties for position.
\n
\n+ Ability to drive agency vehicle to transport individuals as needed.
\n
\n+ Bi-Bilingual fluency a plus; actively looking for fluency in both English and Spanish with ability to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently.
