The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, at Rush University Medical Center is currently recruiting for a board-certified/board-eligible Endocrinologist, _with a passion for metabolic bone diseases, calcium, and parathyroid disorders in addition to general endocrinology and diabetes_ , to join its growing team. The successful candidate will become a faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology.

The Division is dedicated to extensive teaching efforts for its students, residents and fellows. The fellowship program is a collaboration between Rush and neighboring John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. We have an established, multidisciplinary, formal Bone Curriculum Educational Series for internal medicine residents, endocrine and other subspecialty fellows, endocrine attendings, orthopedic surgery and neurological surgery residents and attending staff, and bone basic scientists. The successful candidate would be able to actively participate in the Bone Curriculum by preparing and presenting teaching lectures and mentoring house-staff in the clinical setting. The Division also has established clinical research opportunities. Specifically, we are involved in clinical trials of osteoporosis pharmacologics, osteoporosis quality improvement studies, and osteoporosis fracture reduction projects.

The practice includes an inpatient consultative service that includes the combined Facture Liaison Service and the Endocrine Bone and Calcium Mineral Disorders Service that are staffed with one dedicated endocrine fellow in addition to rotating residents and fellows from other subspecialties of medicine. The practice includes an outpatient Bone Metabolic Disease and Mineral Disorders Clinic with support staff including nursing and administrative support staff. If the candidate were or became a Certified Clinical Densitometrist by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry, bone densitometry interpretation and educational programs could be further included in their clinical duties.

The position would also involve seeing patients for general endocrinology and diabetes related issues, with the candidate joining our busy practice which includes two clinic sites, state of the art ultrasound machines, a team of advanced nurse practitioners, nurses, clinical diabetes educators, and close collaborations with both endocrine surgery and otolaryngology. The candidate would thus be a general endocrinologist with a calcium focus; inpatient duties would include staffing both the endocrinology and calcium/fracture services for several weeks during the year. In summary, this Endocrine Bone Metabolic Disease and General Endocrinology position includes unique opportunities for excellence in teaching, research, and clinical service. It provides a unique opportunity for contributing to clinical excellence in an academic environment and for career advancement.

Qualified applicants must have demonstrated excellent qualifications in clinical care and education. Experience with calcium management is valued, but as this is an established program, the new faculty member will have access to mentorship. Candidates must be MD/DO physician trained and be board certified or board eligible in Endocrinology. This position offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits and an academic appointment commensurate with experience.
