Responsibilities

• Follow ALARA principles and scan patient with appropriate exposure and minimal repeatability.
• Always wear radiation badge(s) to track personal exposure.
• Utilize bismuth or lead shielding per established protocols.
• Monitor CTDI Volume to ensure appropriate dose.
• Properly identify patients by name/DOB and introduce oneself by first name.
• Review prescription for accuracy and completeness, explain procedure, and answer questions/concerns.
• Obtain required bloodwork for GFR clearance and diabetic medication clearance for applicable patients.
• Verify pregnancy status in appropriate patient population and obtain waiver as needed.
• Dispense oral contrast to patients appropriately and give clear instructions.
• Review informed consent prior to performing venipuncture for contrast and utilize aseptic technique.
• Operate power injectors following manufacturer guidelines and select appropriate injection protocol.
• Review charge entry and notify administrative staff with necessary changes.
• Evaluate CT images for technical quality and provide concise relevant history to the Radiologist for interpretation.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program.
• CT State license.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification.
• BLS certification.
