Responsibilities

• Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice.
• Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
• Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
• Provides health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
• Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students.
• Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.
• Assists Nursing Supervisor/coordinator in the development of departmental standing orders.
• Assists patients via phone to determine the urgency of care needed, referring to or scheduling appointments with providers, and giving health information and advice to callers.
• Assist with coordination of care for gynecological patients, including referrals to outside providers.
• Perform telephone triage of both acute and routine, chronic needs of patients.
• Assist with in office procedures such as IUD insertion/removal, endometrial biopsy, colposcopy, and LEEP procedures.
• Provide in office as well as telephone education to patients regrading gynecological issues, procedures, surgery.
• Administration of immunizations and medications.
• Obtain prior authorization for procedures, surgery, medications.

Qualifications

Required

• Registered Nurse license as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing.
