Responsibilities

  • Attend work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy.
  • Drive state agency trucks and cargo vans to deliver and pick up large items such as furniture, filing cabinets, IT and telecommunications equipment, boxed file records, packages, business supplies, surplus state property, and emergency office equipment.
  • Perform office furniture repairs, bulletin board installations/removals, and complete forms and required reports on transport and disposal of surplus state property.
  • Perform restoration, renovation, and maintenance work including modular furniture reconfigurations, modular assessments, and component installations.
  • Perform conference room set up and other assistance in preparation of meetings or events.
  • Perform minor vehicle repairs if needed while enroute, such as flat tire change.
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance records and update vehicle logs with mileage, refueling, and maintenance performed.
  • Train and coach new hires on safety practices and other job duties related to state vehicle usage.
  • Review and update work orders in department data base system (Computer Aided Facility Management).

Qualifications

Required

  • Valid Class C Texas Driver's License
  • Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures
  • Knowledge of motor vehicle operations and basic maintenance, including safe cargo loading and unloading methods
  • Skill in operating motor vehicles including panel trucks and cargo vans
  • Skill in managing multiple priorities
  • Skill in use of standard agency computer hardware and software such as Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Ability to perform restoration/renovation work including the installation and/or reconfiguration of modular furniture panels and components
  • Ability to perform basic building maintenance or repair such as painting, caulking, changing light bulbs, and move furniture, boxes and equipment as directed
  • Ability to obey State and Federal traffic laws and follow safe practices in loading and unloading cargo

Drives and inspects vehicles, maintains agency vehicle maintenance logs for monthly reporting, ensures proper maintenance and operating condition. of vehicles Performs work to address routine service requests such as moving various items, hanging bulletin/marker boards, and performing minor repairs. Performs warehouse duties including tracking inventory and surplus state property; operating motorized equipment for moving and storing warehouse items. Assists with office moves, completes minor building repairs and routine maintenance. Utilizes the Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) system to receive and document completion of assignments.
