Required

  • Associate Degree in medical laboratory technology or related science with an approved training program, or High school diploma and completion of an official military medical laboratory procedure course of at least 50 weeks duration and military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
  • 2-3 years laboratory work experience.
  • NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician License.

Job Summary

Using the latest technology available in the industry today, the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs clinical testing in at least two of the following lab areas: bloodbank, microbiology, serology, and "core lab" which includes chemistry, hematology, coagulation or urinalysis. Using knowledge and experience, the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) prepares samples for analysis appropriately accepting or rejecting specimens according to laboratory policy, stores and/or transports samples using appropriate methods and following set laboratory turnaround times, test results accurately and precisely. The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) maintains equipment and supplies per laboratory protocol. The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) works under the direct supervision of a director, manager, supervisor or charge technologist as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:
