Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations: American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS), American Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
  • Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable
  • Registry in second modality must be completed within 18 months of hire or transfer date
  • American Heart Association BLS certification

Preferred

  • Associate's Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in the secondary imaging modality
  • Experience in CT

**Multi-Modality FLOAT Technologist:** Must be credentialed and capable of working a minimum of two modalities.

FLOAT technologists receive their salary, shift differentials, overtime if appropriate plus additional $5/hr. Float qualifications require the technologist to work a minimum of 2 different hospital campuses, 2 weekend shifts and 2 evening/night shifts a month. Candidate will self-schedule based upon a list of open shifts across the system. Hours per week can fluctuate between 36 and 40, with a minimum of 36 mandatory.

FLOAT technologist will be a UTMB employee, eligible for all State benefits including pension if so selected.

System CT equipment is primarily GE with some Siemens. Xray equipment is mostly GE with some Konica and Shimadzu. MRI is split between GE and Siemens. US is primarily Philips with some Siemens.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, well organized, detail oriented, people person.

**IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST I**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The Multi-modality Technologist I provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities in any combination of which MRI, CT, Mammography, or X-ray are the primary modality. Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider. The procedures are performed under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The Multi-modality Technologist I must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are competent in the procedure being performed. In addition, the Multi-modality Technologist I will be able to provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. The Multi-modality Technologist I will meet all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and will work a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modality. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**

**Minimum Qualifications:**

+ High School Diploma or GED

+ One (1) Year Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Associate's Degree - Strongly Preferred

+ Bachelor's Degree

+ Some Experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality

**LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS**

**Required:**

+ Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations:

+ American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT),

+ American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS),

+ American Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT),

**_JOB SUMMARY:_**

The Multi-modality Technologist II provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities in any combination of which Nuclear Medicine or Ultrasonography is the primary modality. Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider. The procedures are performed under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The Multi-modality Technologist II must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are competent in the procedure being performed. In addition, the Multi-modality Technologist II will be able to provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. The Multi-modality Technologist II will meet all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and will work a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modalities. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.

+ Three (3) Years' Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality

+ One (1) Year Experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality
