The Lead CT Technologist at CARLE is responsible for performing routine and specialized CT examinations, adapting procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and therapeutic results, and preparing patients for examinations. Responsibilities

  • Perform CT procedures ensuring an accurate and complete examination within guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Exhibit competency and serve as a resource person in performing and filming CT procedures.
  • Develop new procedures and deviate from routines when necessary.
  • Exhibit competency and serve as a resource person in knowledge of catheters, guidewires, and sterile tray preparation for invasive CT procedures.
  • Obtain, document, and oversee accurate pre and post procedure information as applicable.
  • Follow and oversee JCAHO patient safety goals and quality throughout the CT scan procedure.
  • Maintain expert working knowledge of equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and oversee a clean work area, check and stock all supplies.
  • Work with physicians and coding specialists to ensure efficient and accurate coding of procedures.
  • Promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment.
  • Perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control.
  • Assure competent personnel and continued skill development.
  • Develop and implement annual competencies and education for all CT technologists.
  • Develop and implement a staffing plan evaluating patient needs and staff development.
  • Provide input on the evaluation of staff and lead in development of teamwork for efficient patient care.

This position is also the preceptor and resource technologist in the area for training of employees and daily functions
  • Clinical Excellence: Performs CT procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages and is expected to be the expert.Exhibits competency and is the resource person in performing and filming CT proceduresDevelops new procedures and deviates from routines when the patient's condition requires it or at the request of the radiologistExhibits competency and is the resource person in knowledge of catheters, guidewires, and sterile tray preparation for invasive CT procedures.Obtains, documents, and oversees accurate pre and post procedure information as applicableFollows and oversees JCAHO patient safety goals as well as quality throughout the CT scan procedureMaintains expert working knowledge of equipment operation and troubleshooting including hardware and software, CT1 and CT2, workstations, printers.Maintains and oversees a clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area and verifies pertinent accessories assigned to that roomWorks with physicians and coding specialists to ensure efficient and accurate coding of proceduresDemonstrates a practical problem-solving approach to patient moving and handling issues.Demonstrates skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment.Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing.Performs patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider's orders and hospital lab procedures/policies
