**Description**

**Shift: 10am - 6:30pm**

Emory Medical Laboratory's mission is to transform health and healing by providing high quality, cost-effective, innovative laboratory services which enhance patient health. We're seeking a **certified Pathologist's Assistant** who is a graduate of an **NAACLS Accredited PA Training Program** . This individual:

+ Provides technical assistance to pathologists in surgical pathology and autopsy procedures.

+ Prepares, processes, examines and assists in the analysis of tissues.

+ Monitors Resident and directs the workflow for maximum efficiency of department personnel.

+ Initiates action to obtain legal authorization for necropsy.

+ Provides medical residents with instruction in the use of photography equipment and procedures for routine dissections and autopsies.

+ May dien autopsy cases to assist pathologist.

+ Provides data which indicates the presence of bio-hazards so that appropriate handling precautions may be taken.

+ Performs other related duties as required.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Physical or Biological Science or certification obtained prior to 2003.

+ **Must be PA (ASCP) certified** or eligible and pass exam within 18 months of hire.
