The Physical Therapy Team Leader at Encompass Health assists the Director of Therapy Operations in overseeing the day-to-day operations of a therapy team or discipline. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Therapy Operations in day-to-day operations of a therapy team or discipline.
  • Delegate and supervise tasks of therapist assistants and technicians.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, orientation, training, and communications to provide adequate coverage for patient treatments.
  • Maintain open and on-going communication with hospital departments to ensure patient, staff, and hospital needs are met.
  • Create an environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding its goals.
  • Convey the hospital mission to all staff and hold staff accountable for performance.
  • Motivate staff to improve performance and be responsible for the operation of the department, including measurement, assessment, and continuous improvement.
  • Help staff improve their clinical skills and overall performance through development and mentoring.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current State license as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited therapy program.
  • A minimum of three years' discipline-specific or leadership experience, with no less than 2 years being clinical.
  • Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds including medical supplies and equipment and the transferring and repositioning of patients.
  • Oral communication, written communication, fluency in English, active listening.
  • Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner.
  • Ability to work independently without continuous supervision.

Preferred

  • CPR certification.
  • Additional training with a Master's or Doctorate's degree in either professional or management area.
  • Active on Therapy Clinical Ladder (when eligible) or specialty professional certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Your Role as a Leader in Physical Therapy

Your impactful journey involves:

  • Assisting the Director of Therapy Operations in the daily operations of the therapy team, including scheduling, orientation, training, and communication with the physical therapy staff and hospital departments.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure or certification required by state regulations.
  • CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire within this role.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited therapy program required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in physical therapy or leadership, with a minimum of two years of clinical experience.
  • Active on Therapy Clinical Ladder (when eligible) or specialty professional certifications preferred.
