The Live-In Direct Care Professional (LI/DCP) is a key member of the Humanity House Program at The Price Center, acting as the shift lead and overseeing all medical appointments, staff oversight, and communication between residents, leadership, and families. This role involves financial monitoring, medical protocol adherence, religious and recreational activities planning, and ensuring the overall functioning of each shift. The LI/DCP also plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and security of the residence, including conducting fire drills and ensuring proper supervision of individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Teach budgeting skills to individuals during outings.
  • Follow financial plans for individuals to maximize their independence.
  • Manage individual and house petty cash.
  • Submit all transactions to the Program Manager for documentation.
  • Follow all medical protocols and Doctor Orders.
  • Respond quickly to protocol for all medical emergencies.
  • Schedule and maintain medical appointments for each individual.
  • Transport, accompany, and advocate for residents at their medical appointments.
  • Maintain proper medical documentation and records.
  • Obtain new and updated Doctor Orders and protocols as needed.
  • Obtain First Aid and CPR certification within three months of employment.
  • Follow proper PPE guidance as instructed.
  • Maintain MAP certification and obtain re-certification when due.
  • Administer medications to all individuals in accordance with the MAP Manual.
  • Participate in shift reports and complete Narcotic count transfers.
  • Provide opportunities for meaningful, spiritually fulfilling religious activities.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct educational and recreational activities.
  • Ensure each individual has the opportunity for choice in their daily activities.
  • Conduct monthly fire drills and follow-up training for individuals.
  • Answer all incoming house phone calls and document messages.
  • Assist in routine house and yard maintenance and household cleaning.

Qualifications

Required

  • MAP certified
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Willingness to live in the house with individuals
  • Adherence to the City of Brookline policies

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated teaching skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to lift and support body weight with assistance
  • On-site on-call availability

Preferred:

  • Associates degree, CNA, HHA, or PCA credentials
  • 3+ years of experience with developmental disabilities in a residential setting
  • Ability to write clearly
  • Basic computer skills
