  • Explain the procedure to the patient and ensure their competence in the procedure.
  • Provide care to patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
  • Work a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modality.
  • Support at different UTMB campuses as required.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) Year Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality for Technologist I
  • Three (3) Years' Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality for Technologist II
  • One (1) Year Experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality
  • Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations: ARRT, ARDMS, RVT-VT, NMTCB, or ARMRIT
  • Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable
  • Registry in second modality must be completed within 18 months of hire or transfer date
  • American Heart Association BLS certification

Preferred

  • Associate's Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Experience in Nuclear Medicine or Ultrasonography
  • Registry in CT

Saturday, Sunday, and Monday 7:00am to 7:00pm

**IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST I**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The Multi-modality Technologist I provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities in any combination of which MRI, CT, Mammography, or X-ray are the primary modality. Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider. The procedures are performed under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The Multi-modality Technologist I must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are competent in the procedure being performed. In addition, the Multi-modality Technologist I will be able to provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. The Multi-modality Technologist I will meet all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and will work a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modality. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**

**Minimum Qualifications:**

+ High School Diploma or GED

+ 6 months' experience in the Primary Imaging Modality

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Associate's Degree - Strongly Preferred

+ Bachelor's Degree

+ Some Experience in the Computed Tomography

**LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS**

**Required:**

+ Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations:

+ American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT),

+ American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS),

+ American Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT),

+ Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or

+ American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)

+ Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable.

+ Registry in second modality must be completed within 18 months of hire or transfer date.

+ American Heart Association BLS.
