Responsibilities

  • Perform semi-skilled automotive and heavy equipment repair.
  • Perform tasks involving the service, inspection, and repair of university owned vehicles and equipment.
  • Determine materials, techniques, and tools to accomplish work assignments.
  • Vary in complexity depending on the type of mechanical system and/or ancillary components/equipment.
  • Perform a variety of recurring and related tasks and repairs such as inspecting and replacing brake pads and shoes, replacing regulators, alternators and belts, and/or fitting or repairing standard aftermarket upgrades and equipment.

Qualifications

Required

  • Some knowledge of the techniques and methods involved in determining and solving mechanical issues and performing PM services.
  • Some knowledge of the techniques and methods involved in determining and solving mechanical difficulties.
  • Ability to use and operate the various machines and instruments commonly found in an automotive and/or heavy equipment repair shop.
  • Some skill in the performance of moderately complex duties relating to the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment or ability to learn on the job.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical strength sufficient to work at heavy manual labor for considerable periods of time.
  • Valid NC Driver's License

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina

Essential Job Duties:

Perform oil changes and lubrication services on vehicles

- Inspect and replace oil, air, cabin, and fuel filters

- Check tire pressure and top off fluids

- Conduct basic vehicle inspections

- Mount and balance tires

- Perform brake services and other light maintenance items

- Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Required Qualifications:

- Proficiency with power tools for automotive maintenance

- Experience with tire services is a plus

- Basic automotive diagnostics knowledge

- Ability to work as part of a team in a service technician role

- Capable of heavy lifting when required

- Mechanical knowledge for performing maintenance tasks such as oil changes

-Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

- Physical strength sufficient to work at heavy manual labor for considerable periods of time.
