- Perform appropriate counts with circulator prior to operation and before incision is closed.
- Comply with all count policies and procedure.
- Gown and gloves surgeon and assistants.
- Help in draping sterile field.
- Pass instruments to surgeon during procedure.
- Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique during procedure.
- Clean and prepare instruments for decontamination when needed.
- Assist other members of team with terminal cleaning of room.
- Assist in prepping room for the next patient when needed.
Qualifications
Required
- 3 years experience as a surgical technologist in a hospital setting.
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) certification.
- Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- NBSTSA Certified Surgical First Assistants (CSFA) certification.
- Tech in Surgery-Certified (NCCT), TS-C (NCCT) certification from the National Center for Competency Testing.
Preferred
- Surgical Technologist Certification from an accredited program (e.g., Certified Surgical Technologists (CST), Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA), or Tech in Surgery-Certified (NCCT)).
