The Surgical Technician 2 at Sharp HealthCare's Outpatient Pavilion is responsible for facilitating the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.   • Update surgeon's preference card per entity specific process.
  • Check supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure.
  • Scrub, gown, and gloves.
  • Set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medication/solutions needed for procedure.
  • Perform appropriate counts with circulator prior to operation and before incision is closed.
  • Comply with all count policies and procedure.
  • Gown and gloves surgeon and assistants.
  • Help in draping sterile field.
  • Pass instruments to surgeon during procedure.
  • Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique during procedure.
  • Clean and prepare instruments for decontamination when needed.
  • Assist other members of team with terminal cleaning of room.
  • Assist in prepping room for the next patient when needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3 years experience as a surgical technologist in a hospital setting.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) certification.
  • Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
  • NBSTSA Certified Surgical First Assistants (CSFA) certification.
  • Tech in Surgery-Certified (NCCT), TS-C (NCCT) certification from the National Center for Competency Testing.

Preferred

  • Surgical Technologist Certification from an accredited program (e.g., Certified Surgical Technologists (CST), Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA), or Tech in Surgery-Certified (NCCT)).

**What You Will Do**

**Required Qualifications**

+ 3 Years Experience as a surgical technologist in a hospital setting.

+ AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

+ Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) -REQUIRED

+ NBSTSA Certified Surgical First Assistants (CSFA) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) -REQUIRED

+ Tech in Surgery - Certified (NCCT), TS-C (NCCT) - National Center for Competency Testing -REQUIRED

**Other Qualification Requirements**
