  • Wash blinds, windows, and walls consistent with CA-approved techniques.
  • Sweep sidewalks, porches, and tiled surfaces. Shovel snow, and remove ice.
  • Operate wet/dry vacuum for cleaning and shampooing carpeted areas.
  • Maintain equipment; report need for painting and minor building or equipment repair to supervisor.
  • Replace light bulbs and/or report safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Cut grass, trim shrubs, water plants, and perform other related duties on the grounds when assigned.
  • Perform custodial-related duties necessary to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
  • Perform varied custodial tasks necessary for the upkeep of buildings and grounds.
  • Serve as a courier between CA sites as needed. Serve on the emergency response team.
  • Report building or equipment repairs to supervisor, and advise Head Custodian on all maintenance and repair problems.
  • Monitor supply inventory on the floor.
  • Keep in mind as support staff we are the last ones leaving the building and make sure the building is ready for next business day.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Reliable and responsive nature.
  • Ability to follow directions and develop strong cleaning skills.
  • Certificates of fitness within 6 months of hire: S-95 Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems and W-07 Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor
  • Team-orientated approach.

  • Ability to read and write.
  • Professional demeanor, pleasant verbal and written communication skills

**Position Summary:**** **The Children's Aid (CA), established in 1853, is one of New York City's leading child and family service organizations. The Bronx Family Center operates a campus of four buildings serving Child Welfare Family Services, Early Childhood, a Health Clinic, Teen Center and more. CA is looking to hire a full-time Custodian as part of the Campus maintenance team. The Custodian will help the team keep the location clean, compliant, and operational.

**Essential Duties:**

* Perform routine manual tasks in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of buildings and grounds.
