The Pharmacy Purchasing Technician at Beth Israel Lahey Health is responsible for assisting with inventory control of supplies and medications, receiving and shelving supplies, entering data with software programs, and purchasing medications, pharmacy supplies, and business supplies for both the main pharmacy and oncology.   • Prepares pre-packaged medications in commonly used quantities.
  • Cleans pharmacy equipment, utensils and work area.
  • Perform and assist with duties as a registered/certified technician when needed in central pharmacy.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma
  • Ability to perform arithmetical computations (add, subtract, etc.)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Keyboard skills at 30 wpm; calculator and computer skills
  • Pharmacy Technician experience of 5 years in a hospital with buying experience
  • Must have passed Board of Pharmacy Registration exam
  • All requirements of Pharmacy Technician Trainee

Preferred

  • Must be registered by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy
  • Must be certified by the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) or ExCPt
  • Must maintain license from Board of Pharmacy and continuing education requirements for PTCB or ExCPt (if applicable)
