Qualifications

Required

  • Degree in a science or engineering field (e.g. physics, engineering, materials science, chemistry).
  • Strong ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot highly technical surface analysis equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems.
  • Experience in the fields of ARPES, XPS, and/or LT-SPM.
  • Ability to communicate with customers and colleagues effectively and professionally, including both written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to understand and work with schematics and to use MS Windows and Office.
  • Ability to manage, organize, and prioritize one’s time, projects, and communications, and work flexibly within a small company environment.
  • Ability and desire to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • USA citizenship is required and must pass background check.
  • A valid driver’s license and passport are also required.

Preferred

  • Ph.D. in a science or engineering field (e.g. physics, engineering, materials science, chemistry).
  • Direct experience with SPECS and/or UNISOKU equipment.

ABOUT US

SPECS-TII Inc. is the USA-based subsidiary of SPECS Surface Nano Analysis GmbH, a global market-leading supplier of UHV surface analysis instrumentation. We are the sole distributor of all SPECSGROUP products and UNISOKU (Tokyo Instruments Inc.) SPM products in North America, offering state-of-the-art technology in low temperature UHV scanning probe microscopes, photoelectron spectroscopy systems, control systems, and cutting-edge systems and components for surface analysis. Our US-based personnel provide local sales and service for North American product inquiries, purchase processes, installations, and support.

Essential Job Functions and Duties:

· Support USA and Canadian customers on technical questions and troubleshooting.

· Provide on-site service, maintenance, and repair of customer equipment.

· Perform installations of complex surface analysis instrumentation and train customers on equipment.

· Must be able to move and lift scientific equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and be able to frequently position self to attach or modify equipment (including under desks and system frames or by ascending/descending ladders) during installations and service visits.

· Frequent travel is required, primarily to USA, Canada, Germany, and Japan. Travel to other regions and tradeshow attendance may occasionally be necessary.
