Personal Attendant Caregiver

Job Summary:

The Personal Attendant Caregiver is responsible for providing non-medical, in-home personal care and companionship for clients who require assistance with daily living activities. This role aims to support clients in maintaining their independence, dignity, and quality of life.

Available Shifts

Mon - Fri 7am to 3pm OR

Weekend Shifts 16 hours

Key Responsibilities:

1. Personal Care:

• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
• Provide medication reminders and ensure clients take medications as prescribed.
• Support clients with exercises and physical activities as prescribed by a healthcare professional.

2. Companionship:

• Engage clients in meaningful conversations and recreational activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
• Accompany clients to appointments, social outings, and other activities as needed.
• Provide companionship and support to alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation.

3. Household Assistance:

• Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
• Assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding if necessary.
• Ensure clients' homes are organized and clutter-free to prevent falls and accidents.

4. Communication and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of care provided and clients' conditions, including any changes or concerns.
• Communicate effectively with clients' families, healthcare providers, and supervisors regarding clients' needs and progress.
• Report any incidents, accidents, or changes in clients' conditions promptly.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in caregiving or a related field is an asset.

Skills and Abilities:

• Compassionate, patient, and empathetic with a strong desire to help others.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and assisting clients with mobility.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed primarily in clients’ homes.
• May require standing, walking, and physical exertion for extended periods
