The Maintenance Technician Level 1 at ACHIEVE is responsible for performing a variety of skilled mechanical and other maintenance repair and construction related tasks. This includes tasks in carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, heating, electrical, appliance maintenance, and lawn care and snow removal. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for 2 years of experience, and a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Responsibilities
- Perform installation, service, and repair of appliances, cabinets, shelves, doors, windows, screens, locksets, roofing, flooring, walls, furniture, plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, water heaters, and drain lines, heating and air conditioning units, relocation of furniture and set-up of media devices, commercial/residential electrical wiring, phone and communications wiring, and electro/mechanical equipment.
- Respond to issues and make proper repairs for common and repetitive type malfunctions with minimal assistance.
- Identify and repair mechanical and structural deficiencies conforming to Life Safety Code and NYS Building Codes. Report those items to management for more in-depth repair.
- Prepare surfaces and paint exterior and interior of buildings, structures, and equipment.
- Perform general grounds maintenance activities including snow removal and other lawn care tasks.
- Maintain records and enter data related to maintenance activity for repairs and material acquisition.
- Load and unload equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Perform periodic inspections of buildings and grounds.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years experience preferred
- A driver's license and good driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier.
- Working knowledge of building operations, maintenance and repair procedures (e.g., carpentry, electrical, plumbing, building, heating, air conditioning ventilation, construction principles, and grounds keeping)
- Demonstrates a working knowledge for the requirements of NYS Building Code and NFPA Life Safety Code.
- Ability to lift heavy materials/equipment with a minimum of 50 pounds
- Demonstrates a basic knowledge for the control and operation of HVAC equipment
- Must provide tools of the trade customarily used in the major trades
- Must be competent in the use of power tools, hand tools, operation of motorized equipment, trailers, and vehicles

Wage $16.00-17.25/hr
Maintenance Technician Level 1is responsible for performing a variety of skilled mechanical and other maintenance repair and construction related tasks. The work to be performed includes tasks in carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, heating, electrical, appliance maintenance, and lawn care and snow removal. + Demonstrates a basic knowledgeable for the control and operation of HVAC equipment. Technician is able to make repairs of common malfunctions and replacement of simple parts (fuse, belts, thermostats, thermocouple, etc.).
+ Must provide tools of the trade customarily used in the major trades.
+ Must be competent in the use of power tools, hand tools, operation of motorized equipment, trailers, and vehicles.
