  • For youth events, plan and facilitate activities, engage with youth during the party, set up, tear down and clean room, activities and amenities. May also run games, conduct swim tests or help with amenities such as climbing wall, play scape, bounce house, etc.
  • If applicable, prepare accurate billing records, close down records, maintenance needs, and incident/accident forms.
  • Act as a leader in emergency situations.
  • Provide resources and information to guests.
  • Provide work direction to event planning staff, committees and volunteers.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • BLS, First Aid and Oxygen Administration certifications required within 30 days of hire
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to act calmly and decisively in emergencies.
  • Flexibility when dealing with a variety of groups and situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience speaking to groups.
  • Ability to represent the Y with a high level of professionalism.
  • Capable of working independently and as member of a team.
  • Must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

Preferred

  • Prior experience as event host, hospitality, or applicable experience.

+ Job Summary:

This position's reporting structure varies. The incumbent interacts regularly with board committees, community leaders, branch/camp management, staff and volunteers. The incumbent provides work direction to event planning staff, committees and volunteers.

+ Working Conditions:

+ Ability to travel to various locations.

+ Ability to lift 50 lbs. to support event set-up and tear-down.

+ Ability to work 12+ hour shifts on event days and be on-call as needed (if applicable).

+ May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.

+ Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently.

+ Must be able to actively participate in youth games/activities, if applicable.
