The Nursing Professional Development Practitioner is a Registered Nurse with NPD practice judgement and expertise responsible for supporting learners within the framework of the Nursing Professional Development, Scope and Standards practice as approved by the American Nurses Association.   • Promote scientific inquiry, transition to practice, and onboarding/orientation of new Hartford HealthCare colleagues.
  • Align regional NPD and practice excellence with the HHC system as a whole.

Qualifications

Required

  • BSN required; enrollment in a Master’s program with degree completion within two years of hire date preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of active clinical nursing experience with at least 1 year in an acute care environment.
  • Experience as a preceptor.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse from the CT DPH obtained prior to hire date.
  • NPD or Clinical Specialty Certification within two years of hire/transfer.
  • BLS required

Preferred

  • One year of relevant teaching experience preferred.
  • Nursing professional development and/or specialty area experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of unit based orientation plans.
  • Strong skills in the process of educational needs assessments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and strong skills in Excel.

JOB SUMMARY
The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner is a Register Nurse with NPD practice judgement and expertise who influence professional role competence and growth of learners. The NPD practitioner
is responsible for supporting learners within the context and framework of the Nursing Professional Development, Scope and Standards practice as approved by the American Nurses Association.

This position works in collaboration with nursing leadership to foster and influence competency management, clinical nursing education, professional role development, policy standardization, collaborative partnerships, scientific inquiry, transition to practice and onboarding/orientation of new Hartford HealthCare colleagues.
