  • Well-developed writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
  • Child Life Certification required within 1 year of hire.

Full Job Description

Boston Children's Hospital, a world-renowned leader in pediatric clinical care, is currently searching for Child Life Specialists across a variety of areas, including our satellite locations in Weymouth and Waltham. Child Life Specialists work to enhance patients’ emotional, social, and cognitive growth during a hospital visit, taking into consideration each child’s family, culture, and developmental needs. They use developmental interventions and play to help patients and families adjust to and understand their health care experiences.

We currently have positions available in the following areas:

  • Medical/Surgical ICU
  • Inpatient Medicine

To qualify, you must have:
  • BA degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in Child Life.
  • Completion of 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist.
  • General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge.
  • Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
  • Child Life Certification is required within one year of hire
