The Engineer at Lincoln Electric is responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating welding machines and associated processes, as well as conducting applied research in new areas of welding machine design and welding processes. Responsibilities

  • Develops/refines test methods to support new product development, product evaluations, and competitive benchmarking.
  • Witness, review and approve testing for compliance to third party agency testing requirements.
  • Assist in developing product compliance strategy and overseeing processes for compliance to global regulatory standards.
  • Interprets global standards, regulations and codes relevant to Lincoln Products and provides guidance to design groups.
  • Ensure that compliance-related documentation is properly published and maintained.
  • Oversee and provide assistance in EMC and Wireless compliance testing requirements.
  • Support for PPE compliance certification (NIOSH, CE Directives).
  • Provide responses to customer's inquiries related to meeting industry regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participate in departmental design reviews.
  • Perform, instruct and supervise testing of new designs.
  • Develops and applies engineering standards and procedures.
  • Coordinate activities of internal and external technical support personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on key design and business initiatives.
  • May provide task-oriented direction to Technicians, Technologists and/or Engineers Level I/II in the execution of development projects.
  • Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
  • Has appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.

Qualifications

Required

  • Four-year Engineering degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years Engineering experience for Level II
  • Minimum of five (5) years Engineering experience for Level III
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to handle a constantly changing set of priorities
  • Initiative to take ownership of product designs
  • Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments

PURPOSE: To design, develop and evaluate welding machines and associated processes; to conduct applied research into new areas of welding machine design and/or on new welding processes.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Develops/refines test methods, as applicable, to support new product development, product evaluations, and competitive benchmarking. Witness, review and approve testing for compliance to third party agency testing requirements.
  • Assist in developing product compliance strategy, by overseeing and improving processes that ensure product compliance to applicable global regulatory standards.
  • Interprets global standards, regulations and codes to determine the applicability of requirements relevant to Lincoln Products and provide guidance to design groups.
  • Ensure that compliance-related documentation is properly published and maintained
  • Oversee and provide assistance in EMC and Wireless compliance testing requirement

  • Provide responses to customer's inquiries related to meeting industry regulatory requirements (RoHS, REACH...)
  • Actively participate in departmental design reviews during the various stages of the design cycle.
