The Professional Nursing Practice Manager at Northeast Georgia Health System provides leadership and direction for nursing services, focusing on meeting and exceeding standards of nursing excellence. Responsibilities

  • Works in close partnership with leaders within other departments to prepare and meet requirements of Magnet, DNV and other regulatory agencies.
  • Promotes effective communication by utilizing multiple forums and strategies to reach all staff, including administrative leadership and physicians.
  • Facilitates the collection of outcomes data from a variety of sources to provide information for data analysis, trending, and reporting of nursing sensitive indicators.
  • Facilitates the data analysis, trending, and reporting of nursing related measures.
  • Makes decisions regarding appropriateness of performance improvement initiatives, methods, implications of data (including trends, variation, and research), others' compliance with regulatory standards, evidence-based practice, and need for changes in process or practice.
  • Works with leadership when trends are identified, and facilitates performance improvement processes.
  • Participates in strategic and operational planning and implements objectives reflective of organizational philosophies, mission, and values.
  • Cost effective use of human and material resources to ensure financial viability of division and organization.
  • Responsible for overseeing a wide variety of regulatory, administrative, and fiscal activities, both internally and externally.

Qualifications

Required

  • Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia.
  • Professional Certification in either a clinical or leadership role.
  • Masters Degree in Nursing (either BSN or MSN).
  • Minimum of five years of nursing experience in a hospital or related health care setting.
  • Three years of experience in nursing management, supervisory or comparably related position.
  • Experience with Magnet journey and/or Pathways Journey document writing.

Preferred

  • DNP and/or PhD.
  • Professional organization membership.
  • Research and EBP experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effectively honed critical thinking skills.

About the Role:

Job Summary

The Professional Nursing Practice Manager provides leadership and direction for nursing services by meeting and exceeding selected standards of nursing excellence. Coordinates Magnet, Pathways, Beacon and Prism application, document, designation, reports and re-designation. Coordinates the integration of Magnet standards into the nursing and hospital infrastructure. Helps to oversee and lead improvement efforts in collaboration with nurse leaders around NGHS strategic goal deployment and indicators specific to nursing. Serves as advisor to Nursing and Hospital Leadership regarding Magnet, Pathways, Beacon and Prism Standards. Leads committees. Serves as liaison to the ANCC Magnet Recognition Office. Coordinates education and staff development. Assists in coordinating and interpreting the data for National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) for patient outcomes and Press Ganey for Patient Experience and Employee Engagement. Collaborates with the Director, Nursing Quality regarding nurse sensitive indicators and other pertinent data. The Manager has knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations that govern nursing practice and must exercise sound, independent judgement in adapting and applying leadership and clinical principles to specific situations. The Manager relies on experience, judgment and collaboration to plan and accomplish goals. Oversight of the professional practice environment by collaborating in setting and supporting the NGHS nursing strategic direction. Oversight of Professional Nursing Governance.



Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia. Professional Certification in either a clinical or leadership role.
