  • Direct the planning and execution of capital projects to stay within budget and on schedule
  • Facilitate implementation of process control systems and Process Improvement Teams (PITs)
  • Ensure adherence to production schedule and closure of production orders each month
  • Maintain budgeted raw material usage and reporting accuracy
  • Serve on special projects/assignments as required by management
  • Motivate personnel to promote morale, housekeeping, and high productivity
  • Coach, mentor, and train all shift personnel on safety, quality, and productivity
  • Ability to travel for business activities approximately 10%
  • Willingness to relocate for promotional opportunities
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related science
  • Advanced degree or MBA considered a plus
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ direct manufacturing management experience
  • Experience as a senior leader in a continuous manufacturing process preferred
  • Ability to build successful work teams
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and desire to learn new processes
  • Proven “hands-on” style of management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven record of successful supervision and leadership responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for assisting the Plant Manager in overseeing/managing all aspects of plant operations; while ensuring that safety, quality, cost and productivity goals are achieved. The position may be based out of any of the following locations, depending on the candidate's location and business needs: Savannah, GA; Richmond, VA; Halifax, NC; Portsmouth, NH; Long Beach, CA; Waukegan, IL; National City, CA; Fort Dodge, IA; Phoenix, AZ; Medicine Lodge, KS; P.E.G.; Westwego, LA; Mt. Holly, NC; Rotan, TX; Shoals, IN; Eloy, AZ; Shippingport, PA; Anniston, AL; Wilmington, DE; Winkleman, AZ; Baltimore, MD; Tawas Quarry, MI; Apollo Beach, FL; Milton, FL; Burlington, NJ; Pryor, OK; and Harper, TX. Please note that the final location will be determined based on the candidate's proximity to these locations and the requirements of the role. This position will report to the plant manager.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive):

  • Assist Plant Manager in all plant management functions
  • Oversee and manage plant operations in the absence of the Plant Manager
  • Ensure a safe working environment through effective safety training and safety inspections
  • Direct all manufacturing departments to ensure that product quality specifications and established manufacturing metrics are met
  • Supervise Production Department Managers, Production Supervisors, Plant Production Schedular and Quality Department personnel
  • Direct the planning and execution of capital projects to stay within budget and on schedule
  • Facilitator for implementation of process control systems and Process Improvement Teams (PITs)
  • Work Closely with Production Supervisors and Plant Scheduler to ensure adherence to production schedule and that all production orders are met and closed out properly each month
  • Maintain budgeted raw material usage and reporting accuracy requirements. Including regular cycle counting and investigation into usage variance trends. Ensure all BOM’s in SAP are set up and maintained correctly for all Raw materials.
  • Serve on special projects/assignments as may be required by management
  • Motivate personnel in a manner that effectively promotes good morale, housekeeping, and high productivity
  • Coach, mentor and train all shift personnel to maintain safety, product quality, and maximize productivity
  • Ability to travel for business activities approximately 10%
  • Willingness to relocate for promotional opportunities
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related science with an advanced degree or MBA considered a plus
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ direct manufacturing management experience – preferably in building materials or continuous process industries
  • Experience as a senior leader in a continuous manufacturing process is preferred
  • Proven ability to build successful work teams, motivate and develop people
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and desire to learn new processes
  • Proven “hands-on” style of management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven record of successful supervision and leadership responsibilities
