The Facility Maintenance Mechanic at the Good Samaritan Society is responsible for light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks, including working with mechanical systems, boiler operations, and general maintenance duties. Responsibilities

  • Work with 3 Good Samaritan Society buildings, including the Care Center & Lodge of Howard Lake Assisted Living and The Lodge of New Hope Assisted Living.
  • Complete light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks in a safe, professional manner, taking extra precautions in patient/resident care areas.
  • Utilize hand tools, meters, measuring devices, and gauges in maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and research support documents as required.
  • Explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting.
  • Work all shifts and hours as scheduled.
  • Comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code.
  • Maintain campus grounds and perform other outside maintenance duties.
  • Perform installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient environment through maintenance tasks.
  • Perform general duties such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance.
  • May require on-call duties as needed or as directed by the department.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Trade school or vocational school preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in building systems preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record may be required, depending on location.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices, and gauges.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Resourceful and able to troubleshoot and research support documents.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances.

  • Wage starts at $17.50 plus applicable years of experience

This role will report to the Manager of Facilities.

Job Summary

Must possess basic mechanical knowledge and show competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices and gauges.

Ability to work from blueprints, schematics and technical manuals helpful.

Must be resourceful, able to troubleshoot and research support documents as require.

Must be able to explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting, and function with safety, moral end efficiency of the department in mind. Ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled.

Must comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code. Must understand written and verbal communications. Good written and oral communications skills required.

Works independently with minimal supervision. Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances.
