Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of experience in maintenance or construction, including six months operating heavy-duty equipment.
  • Proficiency in operating hydraulic boom trucks, ton pick-up trucks, large dump flatbed trucks, backhoes, and trailers in various weather conditions.
  • Strong understanding of building maintenance techniques and equipment, as well as minor repairs in plumbing, heating, cooling, generators, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to follow instructions, read maps, and perform physically demanding tasks.

Preferred

  • Fluency in both Spanish and English.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and residents.

Job position summary:

HACA is looking for a service-oriented Truck Driver/ Fleet Assistant to join our high-performing team in Austin! The Truck Driver is responsible for the removal of large trash and bulk items form the Authority offices, dwellings and non-dwelling facilities and grounds in an orderly manner. Will drive and operate the hydraulic boom truck, and ton pick- up trucks during all weather conditions the day-to-day management of assigned property.


What you will do in this position:

As a Full-Time Truck Driver/Fleet Assistant at the Housing Authority of The City of Austin, you will play a crucial role in our operations by removing trash, appliances, and debris from scheduled routes, disposing of them appropriately, and maintaining our vehicles. You'll also be responsible for hauling appliances and construction materials, submitting daily haul activity reports, and assisting with building and grounds maintenance. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will be key as you assist with conducting vehicle inspections, reporting repair requirements, operating sewer jet equipment, and assisting with minor building repairs. In addition, you will have the opportunity to assist and support the coordination of state inspections and transportation of our fleet, ensuring our operations run smoothly.Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualification:

To excel in the role of Full-Time Truck Driver/Fleet Assistant 11-24 at Housing Authority of The City of Austin, you should possess a high school diploma or GED, with at least one year of experience in maintenance or construction, including six months operating heavy-duty equipment.
