Responsibilities

  • Perform patient transfers with assistance as needed from bed, chair, and floor, demonstrating safe and appropriate body mechanics.
  • Design an appropriate plan of care that integrates goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plan, adjusting the care based on patient response and available evidence.
  • Educate patients, family, caregivers, students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teaching methods.
  • Perform examination, selecting reliable and valid examination methods relevant to the chief complaint, results of screening, and history.
  • Screen patients using procedures to determine the effectiveness of and need for therapy services.
  • Use support personnel according to legal standards and ethical guidelines, monitoring the care delivered by support personnel and providing regular feedback.
  • Document evaluations and plans of care according to department policy including goals, modifications of treatment plans and patients' response to treatments.
  • Evaluate clinical findings to determine therapy diagnoses and outcomes of care.
  • Complete annual education as assigned to comply with DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program requirements.
  • Evaluate patients' impairments related to upper extremity function.
  • Establish a plan of care based on functional deficits and patients' goals.
  • Complete objective testing for range of motion, strength, and performance of daily functional tasks.
  • Complete daily documentation and charging in therapy EMR.
  • Complete therapeutic ultrasound treatment.
  • Complete fluidotherapy treatment.
  • Communicate with referring provider on patient progress and treatment recommendations.

  • Designs an appropriate plan of care that integrates goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plan. Adjusts the care based on patient response and available evidence.
  • Educates patients, family, caregivers, students, and other health care providers using relevant and effective teaching methods.
