PRINCIPAL NETWORK ENGINEER

The PositionThis team plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of the data and voice service infrastructure at the Vacaville Drug Substance manufacturing site. Led by the Principal Network Engineer, this team is responsible for deploying and maintaining the data network infrastructure and solutions based on engineered standards. The Opportunity:As a Principal Network Engineer, you will work closely with stakeholders, problem-solving, and applying your technical skills to deliver value and meet service metrics. Your contributions will directly impact the success, quality, efficiency, and consumer satisfaction of the network service across departments at the site. Your main accountabilities will include:Serving as a liaison between customers, business, and Integrated Informatics productsCollaborating with stakeholders, vendors, and colleagues across different geographiesCoordinating with vendors and third-party suppliers for implementing external servicesProviding consultation to propose network design solutions based on provisioning requirements and capacity demandsDeveloping and implementing solutions based on engineering standardsCreating and maintaining up-to-date documentation of network operations and proceduresEnsuring network infrastructure configuration, monitoring, and maintenance align with global standards and service level agreementsWho You Are:You possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline AND a minimum of 12 years of experience supporting and implementing complex data networksLAN (campus, data center & manufacturing)WAN (core routing & SD WAN)WLAN (on prem & cloud-managed)You possess an active CCNA/CCNP, CCIE, or similar certificationYou demonstrate expert proficiency with troubleshooting methodologies, enabling you to efficiently resolve complex technical problems; your skills extend to high-level and low level design, lifecycle management, network capacity planning, site relocation/expansion, and problem managementYou have a successful track record of managing and working with external vendors, telecom carriers and service providersYou have experience using packet capture devices for network troubleshootingYou possess a strong technical knowledge of end-to-end network architecture, including routing and switching theories and protocols such as TCP/IP, 802.11 WLAN design, 802.11x protocols, campus and data center networks, SD WAN, BGP, and OSPFYou have experience in Cisco Wireless Network Design, troubleshooting, implementation, and optimizationYou have experience with scripting and network automation using tools like Ansible, Python, and PerlYou are proficient in the English language (written and verbal)Preferred:Experience in cloud networking Experience with virtualization & containerizationExperience working with security devices such as firewalls, proxies and VPNs, understanding of authentication and data encryptionExperience in the SAFe Agile delivery framework and usage of ServiceNOW for IT service management processExperience in supporting global wide area networks and remote local area networks in multiple locations Familiarity with SAFe Agile delivery framework and IT service management process using ServiceNOWSpecial Notes:On occasion, you must be able to work flexible hours to participate in virtual meetings outside of normal business hours and to respond to escalations in the event of major incidentsThe Roche site at Vacaville is in an agreement to divest. This position could be transferred to the acquiring company.Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.This is an onsite position. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Vacaville, CA is $132,000 - $245,000.Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
