The Sustaining Engineer at nVent is responsible for ensuring the continued and reliable operation of trace heaters, components, and electronics through cross-functional collaboration.   • Conduct electrical, material, and mechanical investigations.
  • Propose, develop, and support product and process improvements, cost reductions, product enhancements.
  • Devise and implement innovative test methods and instrumentation.
  • Disseminate knowledge by writing technical reports, giving seminars, composing standard work, and training colleagues.
  • Be the subject matter expert for multiple families of industry-leading products.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience with preference for polymer, electrical, and mechanical testing and R&D.
  • Implemented projects requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and modification of standard techniques, procedures, algorithms, workflow, and criteria.
  • Ability to work unsupervised with technical consultation on complex problems.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Strong desire to improve processes, introduce automation, and drive standardization.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on team dynamics.
  • Influence with peers and comfort reporting out to leadership.

Preferred

  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, with preference for Enovia.
