The Staff Engineer, Data Engineering at Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers is responsible for building and optimizing Cloud Data pipelines, defining, setting, and maintaining the Cloud Data Engineering practice using modern frameworks and technologies in accordance with industry and Rouse standards of software engineering. Responsibilities

  • Maintain documentation and source control; define standards of the Cloud Data Engineering practice in conjunction with Rouse Engineering leadership
  • Write code as part of a collaborative team, building features that play a visible and critical role
  • Manage, define, and break down tasks in an agile environment
  • Mentor other team members
  • Implement and architect solutions in collaboration with engineering leadership
  • Own the problem and scope solutions that line up with business objectives
  • Provide rapid response to the needs of the team

Qualifications

Required

  • Expertise in Python and SQL
  • At least five to seven years of experience in data engineering
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with Cloud Data practices
  • Familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow
  • Significant experience with building and maintaining performant data pipelines

Preferred

  • Experience with machine learning
