The Senior Application Engineer role at Solomon Page involves providing Tier III application support, owning and stewarding 20+ stand-alone applications, and supporting multiple unique applications with a mix of end-user and consulting experience. Responsibilities

  • Tier III application support including support, troubleshooting, and documentation for 3rd party legacy applications.
  • Assume ownership and stewardship of 20+ stand-alone applications (Insurance, operations & finance).
  • Excel in learning & supporting multiple unique applications (two tier architecture, thick client, client-server etc.).
  • Experience with ODBC data connectivity, scripting, excellent troubleshooting skills, understands thin/thick client architecture to resolve end-user trouble tickets/backlog.
  • Support applications modernization efforts via integration with MS virtual Azure desktops.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills, patient, responsive, detail oriented, very analytical, and has been able to drive standards, documentation, automation, and simplification of legacy applications in a commercial environment.
  • Technical Design and Implementation – hands-on expertise in designing enterprise technical platforms; including cloud, vendor & third-party solutions, integrations and application security.
  • Installing, configuring and troubleshooting web and desktop-based applications.
  • Providing application support to clients and colleagues in company.
  • Providing software application support.
  • Establishing the root causes of application issues, and escalating critical issues to the application team, documenting issue / resolution for future use.
  • Consulting with the software development team, internal users, and clients to improve application performance.
  • Managing code migration across environments to ensure continued and synchronized functionality.
  • Keeping a record of configuration changes and scheduling application updates.
  • Documenting processes and monitoring application performance metrics.
  • Systems Planning – experience in information system planning, defining application design for complex, multi-site, multi product organizations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Demonstrable experience as an application support engineer in a related field.
  • Work with external vendors, evaluate products, conduct POCs as required by the project.
  • Assist in defining, implementing, and overseeing technical standards, policies and tools.
  • Assist in the estimation of effort and cost of IT projects.
  • Support the creation and continuous evaluation/improvement of technical standards.
  • Ability to manage code migration, document configuration changes, and monitor performance.
  • Proficiency in determining the causes of application issues and resolution.
  • Knowledge of legacy application technologies
  • Knowledge of Microsoft technologies
  • Knowledge of Azure cloud, a plus
  • 6+ years industry experience

The role requires significant multi-tasking, a broad business perspective and conceptual thinking to solve ambiguous problems. Candidates also need to apply substantial depth of knowledge/experience to drive through change. This role is contract to hire, and can be remote, but the ideal candidate will be located in the NYC area.
