Responsibilities

  • Perform work in one or more of the skilled trades
  • Comply with all safety & GMP regulations and support the production of safe, high quality products
  • Follow all company rules, policies and procedures, and make decisions in the organization's best interests
  • Monitor Maintenance Technicians' progress with daily scheduled work and provide technical advisement as necessary
  • Reprioritize and schedule work assignments for each shift team member as necessary
  • Report emergency conditions as part of the EA & FPP, such as major production down-time, fire, flooding, chemical leaks, NH3 leaks, and power failures
  • Maintain membership and training in the company emergency response team as outlined by OSHA, 29 CFR 1910.120
  • Provide leadership in World Class Maintenance Methods (Preventative Maintenance Optimization, Total Production Maintenance, etc.)
  • Take appropriate steps in notifying management when incidents and/or near misses occur
  • Notify supervision or management of any overtime situation that requires a force of a team member
  • Carry the Lead cellphone for emergency notification and monitoring plant alarms
  • Review the daily reading logs to ensure that all readings are taken and any out of parameter conditions are addressed

Qualifications

Required

  • High School or equivalency diploma
  • NYS approved apprenticeship or 2-year degree in mechanical engineering/industrial electricity/HVAC & refrigeration (military schooling is acceptable)
  • 3 years industrial maintenance experience
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Valid New York State Driver's License preferred
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Able to work flexible hours and weekends

Pay

Base Pay Rate:$32.51/hour

Shift Differential: $0.50/hour

Lead Pay: $2.00/hour

Hazmat:$1.25/hour

About the Role:

As a core member of our Maintenance team, you will be expected to:

+ Lead assigned shift and provide maintenance support for all departments within Perry's Ice Cream

+ Schedule, train and provide work direction and guidance to a crew of Maintenance Technicians performing preventative, corrective and planned maintenance; while performing work in one or more of the skilled trades

What We're Looking For:

+ Hig h School or equivalency diploma

+ NYS approved apprenticeship or 2-year degree in mechanical engineering/industrial electricity/HVAC & refrigeration (military schooling is acceptable) or a verifiable trade school

+ 3 years industrial maintenance experience

+ Strong organizational and planning skills

+ Valid New York State Driver's License preferred

+ Good Communication Skills

+ Able to work flexible hours and weekends

Essential Duties:

+ Complies with all safety & GMP regulations & support the production of safe, high quality products

+ Follows all company rules, policies and procedures, makes decisions in the organization's best interests

+ Monitors Maintenance Technicians' progress with daily scheduled work and provides technical advisement as necessary

+ All duties & responsibilities covered under maintenance technician mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration

+ Maintains membership and training in the company emergency response team as outlined by OSHA, 29 CFR 1910.120

+ Takes appropriate steps in notifying management when incidents and/or near misses occur

+ Notifies supervision or management of any overtime situation that requires a force of a team member either in person or over the phone by the supervisor or management

+ Carries the Lead cellphone for emergency notification and monitoring plant alarms. Takes appropriate actions to correct the alarm condition or notifies supervision or management if the situation cannot be immediately corrected

+ Reviews the daily reading logs to ensure that all readings are taken and any out of parameter conditions are addressed. The Lead Maintenance Technician initials that they have reviewed the logs and they are complete

+ Participates in the evaluation process of a new team member during the probationary period
