WHAT THIS LEADER WILL DO:
- Work closely with the Radiation Oncologists to coordinate high quality patient care.
- Train employees to meet standards of performance within the department.
- Maintain staff schedules, evaluates staffing levels and makes adjustments as necessary to maintain established productivity levels and ensure completion of procedures and/or treatments.
- Coordinate all treatment, treatment planning and room block activities.
- Clinically treats patients when needed and participates in department call rotations.
- Assist in patient education and counseling.
- Work collaboratively with the manager to organize, plan and implement system changes, departmental improvements and annual goals.
- Administer, implements, and improves policies, procedures, and processes.
- Develop and implements Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs.
- Maintains a preventative maintenance program and understands mechanical functions of equipment. Prepares work orders in order to assure safe, functional equipment.
- Monitor daily charge activities for accuracy.
- Assist in preparing budgets; monitors and operates within budget guidelines.
- Ensure correct usage and compliance with national protocols and the State of Wisconsin Regulations.
- Perform human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization’s Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization’s business.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
- Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
WHAT IT TAKES TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- 3 years of experience in radiation therapy, which includes experience as a lead or senior level staff.
- Associate’s degree in Radiation Therapy or related field.
- Radiation Therapy (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical and radiation hazards.
