The Principal Electrical Engineer at LivaNova will work in a hands-on, technical role with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, developing test methods, modeling, and testing neuromodulation systems and components. This role involves participating in the product development process, representing the MRI safety function, and developing new technology to improve MRI performance and reduce product costs.

Responsibilities

  • Apply basic electromagnetic principles and simulation tools to solve complex problems in the RF technology and MRI compatibility as it applies to implantable and external devices and systems
  • Conduct engineering testing and design verification on new designs in a laboratory environment
  • Apply electrical engineering principles through simulation and measurement techniques to support MRI and EMI/EMC compliance
  • Prepare and maintain product documentation, including data sheets, instruction manuals, project notebooks, and design, test documentation and specifications
  • Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies in addition to medical, technical, and biomedical developments as it relates to company products
  • Provide technical oversight to junior level engineers and manage external contractors and consultants as required
  • Provide electrical engineering support in the resolution of product complaints and safety issues
  • Develop automated test systems for Continuous tests, Characterization and Design verification of various Neuromodulation products
  • Execute tests and analyze data using statistical methods and influence product design choices based on your findings
  • Perform design reviews periodically to keep the stakeholders informed and seek critical feedback to improve on the design

Qualifications

Required

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical testing including circuit analysis, integration, and debug
  • Previous work experience in a highly regulated industry such as medical product development is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with operating and troubleshooting test equipment (Oscilloscope, Multimeters, Logic Analyzers, etc.)
  • Understanding of the Fundamentals of Electromagnetic theory and circuit theory (Filters, Transmission lines, Two-port networks)
  • Ability to write technical specifications and requirements and strong written and oral communication skills to accurately convey issues and information
  • Ability to automate characterization, design verification and production level tests in C#, Python, or other automation software tools
