The Speech-Language Pathologist in the school setting is responsible for performing student evaluations and providing and documenting therapy services in accordance with the plan of care developed for each individual student and the physician's orders.   • Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing treatment plans, and/or providing training to parents/students/staff
  • Develops treatment plans, interventions and/or educational materials in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Instructs eligible students in the use of appropriate communication technologies
  • Maintains files and/or records for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of communication disorders in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing treatment plans, and/or providing training to parents/students/staff
  • Provides speech and language therapy to students for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on student success
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Qualifications

Required

  • Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the state of assignment
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Preferred

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)

Full Job Description

The Speech-Language Pathologist in the school setting isresponsible for performing student evaluations as well as providing anddocumenting therapy services in accordance with the plan of care developed foreach individual student and the physician's orders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Assesses students' communication skills (e.g. articulations,fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, etc.) for the purpose ofidentifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility anddeveloping recommendations for treatment

+ Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals forthe purpose of communicating information, resolving issues and providingservices in compliance with established guidelines

+ Coordinates meetings and processes for eligible students(e.g. testing/screening, IEPs, parent conferences, pre-referral staffing, etc.)for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing treatment plans,and/or providing training to parents/students/staff

+ Develops treatment plans, interventions and/or educationalmaterials for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of communicationdisorders in compliance with regulatory requirements

+ Instructs eligible students in the use of appropriatecommunication technologies (e.g. hearing aids, FM systems, augmentativecommunication devices, etc.)

+ Maintains files and/or records (e.g. progress reports,activity logs, billing information, treatment plans, required documentation,quarterly reports, screening results, etc.)

+ Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g.training, IEPs, team meetings, etc.)

+ Provides speech and language therapy to students for thepurpose of minimizing the adverse impact of speech and language disorders onstudent success - Seeks appropriate in-service and professionaldevelopment

+ Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

Minimum Requirements:

+ Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in thestate of assignment required

+ Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-LanguagePathology (CCC-SLP) preferred and may be required by state/contract.
