Responsibilities

  • Invent high-speed, high-density interconnect product concepts by pushing the stamping, plating, assembly, and molding process technology boundaries.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge to contribute to the development of pioneering projects within TE Connectivity.
  • Explore technology options by interacting with internal and external technology experts.
  • Plan and execute DOEs to prove the concept.
  • Systematically and scientifically study and compare proposed solutions to make data-driven decisions.
  • Collaborate effectively in a small, cross-functional team environment.
  • Interface confidently with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree highly recommended
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in signal integrity engineering or related roles
  • Experience with interconnect design or connector &/or cable/cable assembly design
  • Signal integrity analysis tools (Ansys Circuit Designer, Ansys HFSS, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of electromagnetic theory and electrical circuit behavior
  • Understanding of optical component models and co-simulation for electro-optical channel simulations
  • Strong analytical capabilities to interpret simulation and lab data
  • Familiarity with printed circuit board design, fabrication and assembly
  • Experience in project leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a global environment
  • Direct customer design and support experience
  • Ability to teach and train peers in applying software tools and methodologies

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficiency in Creo, SpaceClaim, and AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in ANSYS Mechanical

**Job Overview**

The Advanced Technology (ADT) Team within the Data and Devices Business Unit at TE Connectivity is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced R&D Product Development Engineer (PDE) specializing in Mechanical Engineering, with a proven track record of 10+ years in advanced interconnecting device development such as connectors, sockets, cable assemblies. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of high-speed, high-density interconnect designs.

**Short Description**

1.Expertise in Advanced Connector Design:

+ Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of past high-speed, high-density interconnect designs and innovations.

+ Invent high-speed, high-density interconnecting product concepts by pushing the stamping, plating, assembly, and molding (SPAM) process technology boundaries, or by applying other precision manufacturing technologies, such as photolithography, additive manufacturing, MEMS, etc.

+ Experience in fine-pitch precision interconnects, such as board-to-board, IO, sockets in fine pitches like 0.4-0.6mm, or another similar precision level electro-mechanical component development experiences are highly valued.

+ Apply in-depth knowledge to contribute to the development of pioneering projects within TE Connectivity.

+ Exploring the technology options by interacting with internal and external technology experts.

2.Technical Proficiency:

+ Preferred familiarity with prototyping methods and advanced manufacturing techniques.

+ Meticulously plan and execute DOEs to prove the concept.

+ Systematically and scientifically study and compare proposed solutions to make data-driven decisions.

+ Possess proficiency in CAD tools, including Creo, SpaceClaim, and AutoCAD.

+ Conduct force and structural analysis using ANSYS Mechanical and other relevant tools.

3. Project Management and Collaboration:

+ Exhibit a relentless drive to succeed on challenging, advanced projects.

+ Demonstrate patience and resilience in overcoming setbacks and obstacles.

+ Collaborate effectively in a small, cross-functional team environment and work seamlessly across BU and Segment boundaries.

4. Communication and Presentation:

+ Possess strong communication and presentation skills to convey complex technical information effectively.

+ Interface confidently with internal and external stakeholders.

**What your background should look like:**

+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree highly recommended

+ Minimum of 10 years of work experience in signal integrity engineering or related roles

+ Experience with interconnect design or experience with connector &/or cable/cable assembly design (high speed twinax cables, direct attach copper (DAC) cables), &/or RF antenna, RF sub-system

+ Signal integrity analysis tools (Ansys Circuit Designer, Ansys HFSS, etc.)

+ A solid understanding of electromagnetic theory and electrical circuit behavior

+ Understanding of optical component models and co-simulation for electro-optical channel simulations

+ Strong analytical capabilities to interpret simulation and lab data to identify issues and provide solutions to fix identified problem. SixSigma methodologies or other strong data analytics background a PLUS.

+ Familiarity with printed circuit board design, fabrication and assembly. Proficient in Altium a PLUS.

+ Experience in project leadership, especially as it applies across design, development & manufacturing teams

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Ability to work in a global environment - able to accommodate varying time zones, fluent in English (verbal/written), able to collaborate with individuals across geographies

+ Direct customer design and support experience, and ability to travel as needed

+ Ability to, and experience with, teaching and training peers in applying software tools and methodologies, and in the use of electrical test equipment, including VNA's and TDR's

+ Highly motivated, a quick learner, and able to work independently

**COMPENSATION**

- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $141,040 - $211,569 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

- Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

- Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
