Full Time Teacher Assistant/Aide- PreK for All - St. Margaret of Cortona- St. Gabriel - North Riverdale, Bronx, NY

Saint Margaret of Cortona - Saint Gabriel School is currently seeking a full-time classroom assistant to join the team for one of our PreK for All classrooms. We operate a robust early childhood program, with five classes and over fifteen staff members. Our family communities are supportive, as is the faculty and staff. As part of the NYC Universal Prek program, we implement the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold to build upon each child's interests and strengths. We are seeking a candidate who approaches working with children of various talents and needs with joy and patience. Roles and Responsibilities:

• Participate in high quality implementation of Creative Curriculum program.
• Actively participate in trainings on instruction, health and safety, social/emotional support of children
• Provide specialized attention to individuals or groups of students under the guidance of a lead teacher;
• Assist students in the use of available instructional resources and assist in the development of instructional materials;
• Observe and document information about students' interests and growth to assist the lead teacher and other staff members in the development of appropriate learning experiences.
• Implement Positive Behavioral Guidance for all students following given expectations and practices.
• Provide appropriate care and supervision at all times, including supporting hygiene needs for students;
• Perform other duties as requested by the director.

Qualifications:

Education: Preference may be given to candidates who have the following:

• Minimum High School Diploma; Associates Degree or BA preferred
• Experience working with preschool age children (required)
• Experience working successfully with children who require extra support in the classroom setting (preferred)
• New York State Teaching Assistant certificate, or willingness to obtain a New York State Teaching Assistant certificate within one (1) year of employment. (preferred)

Other:

• Fingerprint and Background Check clearance required if position is offered and accepted
• Meet all NYC Department of Health requirements for staff working with children under the age of 6
• References as requested
• Participation in all required trainings and submission of proof of successful completion

The work schedule for this position includes hours of Monday through Friday, 7:45am-3:00pm, when school is in session.
