The Logistics Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and managing the transportation and delivery of goods. This role involves communicating with drivers, scheduling routes, monitoring deliveries, and ensuring that shipments are delivered on time and in good condition. The dispatcher must efficiently allocate resources, resolve issues that arise during transit, and provide exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Route Planning & Scheduling: Develop efficient delivery routes based on customer orders, traffic patterns, and driver availability. Optimize schedules to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing them with route details, delivery instructions, and support throughout their shifts. Communicate with customers to provide updates and address any concerns.
  • Monitoring & Tracking: Use tracking systems and software to monitor the progress of deliveries. Ensure that shipments are delivered according to schedule and in compliance with company standards.
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve issues such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, and customer complaints. Make quick decisions to reroute deliveries or adjust schedules as needed.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of delivery schedules, driver logs, vehicle maintenance, and fuel consumption. Prepare reports for management as required.
  • Compliance: Ensure all drivers comply with safety regulations, company policies, and transportation laws. Conduct regular checks to ensure vehicles are roadworthy and properly maintained.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional service by promptly addressing customer inquiries and ensuring a high level of satisfaction with the delivery process.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse staff, logistics managers, and other departments to coordinate the movement of goods and improve operational efficiency.
