Lina T. Ramey and Associates, Inc. (LTRA) is seeking a highly motivated Construction Project Engineer for our growing Construction Management team in Farmers Branch, Texas. The role involves overseeing civil engineering construction projects encompassing all aspects of infrastructure construction, including roadway subgrade, CRCP and HMAC pavement, drainage pipes and structures, roadway illumination, traffic signals, stormwater management, and/or water and sanitary sewer utility inspection. The ideal candidate will have a strong construction/contract administration background, knowledge of design, construction, and materials engineering standards, and the ability to develop and lead a team of field staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project engineering, oversight and administration on a variety of Federal, State, County and City construction projects and contracts
  • Assist in the proposal development process, staff scheduling and management
  • Perform contract administration duties including plan development, interpretation, budget management, schedule management, record keeping, change negotiations, quality, and project documentation
  • Oversee the execution of projects to ensure a high-quality project is delivered to our clients
  • Use engineering best practices on a wide variety of projects for a wide variety of clients, adapting to new environments quickly
  • Be involved and understand all project aspects including construction administration, RFIs /Submittals, pay requests, and client meetings
  • Direct and oversee technical staff with construction management tasks and coordination with Contractors and clients
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and assist with client development and technical completeness for infrastructure projects
  • Assist in the Management and training EITs for their development needs
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, cities/clients, and other public agencies
  • Coordinate, schedule, and oversee multiple staff members with varying degrees of experience and technical abilities
  • Develop and maintain as-built drawings and other work tasks, reviews and processes submittals, change orders, RFl's
  • Ensures the timely and appropriate generation, collection, distribution, storage, retrieval and ultimate disposition of meeting agendas, RFl's and daily reports
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the project management plan (PMP) and is involved in support and execution of the plan
  • Monitor and review the project schedule (P6) to ensure timely completion

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Texas PE is required or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 5 - 10 years of related experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable
  • Physically able to perform work in the field
  • Ability to travel to projects statewide

Preferred

  • Thorough knowledge and experience with TxDOT specifications and contract administration practices
  • Experience with project engineering, client management, staff management and willingness to travel as needed
  • Experience using computer assisted engineering and design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Bluebeam, GIS)
  • Thorough knowledge of TxDOT Standard Construction Practices and Procedures

Responsibilities

· Demonstrates an understanding of the project management plan (PMP) and is involved in support and execution of the plan. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the project process and performs project scope activities and supports the project team to ensure the work needed to complete the project successfully.

· Monitor and review the project schedule (P6) to ensure timely completion

· Successful Candidate will be expected to work with minimal supervision and be capable of solving complex engineering issues in a timely manner.
