The Technical Security Systems Specialist at Johnson Controls International is responsible for coordinating technical support for all physical security systems and hardware. Responsibilities

  • Design training documentation and coordinate training sessions with in-house SMEs or system manufacturers.
  • Design and maintain an audit program and track compliance with standard practices and procedures.
  • Identify and remedy potential issues or concerns in consultation with System Support Manager
  • Document current technical configurations, process map workflows, and create presentations.
  • Act as subject matter expert and take ownership for assigned systems, processes and deliverables.
  • Apply industry best practices to initiatives involving the improvement of security systems and hardware.
  • Coordinate with electronic security vendor partners to achieve a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Conduct research and analysis as requested by leadership to support key stakeholders and projects.
  • Compile and format transactional or statistical reports for presentation at all levels of the organization.
  • Coordinate collaborative meetings to ensure ongoing progress towards targeted objectives while promoting active dialog and team cohesion.
  • Maintain positive working relationships between peers and managers as well as clients, integrators, vendors, tenants, and other partners.
  • May direct day-to-day operations and workflows for a small team as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business, Finance, Criminal Justice, or equivalent education and related training required.
  • Five or more years’ experience in physical security technology or security operations.
  • Ability to manage complex processes and competing priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Leadership experience including implementation of best practices, planning and management of projects, and ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information.
  • Strong verbal/written communication ability to communicate complex information in a succinct manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn multiple software applications and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software products.

Preferred

  • Prior experience with physical security technology products: Access Control: Honeywell ProWatch, Video Surveillance: Verint / March Networks, Alarm Systems: Bosch / DMP / Pacom.
  • Advanced experience manipulating large datasets using Excel, Access, and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Professional certification in the security industry (ASIS Physical Security Professional or similar).

What will you do

Provide and coordinate technical support for application engineering and proposal generation to Government National Accounts for major system sales. Systems to include large/complex integrated systems, IP video surveillance, networks, and large/complex card access systems (and others as required). Primarily responsible to interpret an RFP’s specifications or concept to design a technical, integrated security solution for proposal generation. This person will possess the technical skills to understand how solutions integrate, how to design a scope of work, and capture all labor and components necessary to complete a project efficiently. A good understanding of General Network Topology is desired.

How will you do

  • Provide support to pre-sale engineering and sales teams to complete comprehensive scopes of work, equipment, and labor required to perform complex solutions.

  • Review bid specifications and develop exception documentation/compliance matrixes. Ensures proper accuracy of technical take-offs from contract drawings and prepares questions to be submitted for clarification.

  • Develop product pricing by gather quotes from manufacturers to meet system design requirements.

  • Ensures proper application of systems products to meet customer requirements and/or specifications.

  • Ensures the use of JCI Policies and Procedures in all aspects of project preparation and implementation.

  • Value engineer all project specifications with the aim of customer satisfaction and project profitability.

  • Review equipment application, research outside options and ensure equipment compatibility. Value engineer a job and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Evaluate and test latest security solutions in a test lab environment.

  • Survey existing installations and recognize solutions for upgrading/replacing with newer technology. Must be able to document findings and solutions in clear detail.

  • Work with Field Engineering and Field Operations teams to ensure proper application of systems products to meet customer requirements.

What we look for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and/or other related field equivalent experience.

  • Certified System Engineer ICAM PACS (CSEIP) -preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of system design and support of electronic security, IT or related low voltage equipment.

  • Proven ability to complete complex security integrations and designs.

  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and ensure they are carried through.

  • Ability to manage complex processes and competing priorities with minimal supervision.

  • Understanding of FIPS 201-2, HSPD12 and FICAM solutions for Federal Government systems.

  • Experience with one or more of the following access control systems: SoftwareHouse CCure 9000, LENEL Onguard, Identiv Hirsch

  • Experience with one or more of the following video management systems and camera systems: American Dynamics, Victor, Genetec, Milestone, Exacq, Avigilon, Axis, Hanwha, Bosch.

  • Understanding of UL2050 and SCIF systems for IDS designs.

  • Strong verbal/written communication ability to communicate complex information in a succinct manner.

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with analytical mindset.

  • Knowledge of large project management, database connectivity, basic LAN protocols, and serial communications.

  • High level of proficiency in access control, intrusion detection, video management systems and CCTV products and concepts.

  • Strong networking, IP configuration, and data communications background.

  • Entrepreneurial attitude, leadership ability and ability to be a team player at all levels.

  • Ability to set priorities.

  • Possess high level of PC literacy.
