The Housekeeping Assistant at Bethesda Project is responsible for overseeing laundry and housekeeping services, ensuring all laundry is done in a timely manner, maintaining inventory and storage of household supplies, and overseeing the cleanliness and safety of the facility. The Housekeeping Assistant is responsible for overseeing the laundry and housekeeping services at our shelter, while providing a welcoming presence for guests.
Schedule
• Approximately 16 – 24 hours a week, including weekends & holidays, as needed
Reports to: Program Coordinator
General Responsibilities
Ensuring all laundry is done in a timely manner. Maintaining inventory & storage of household supplies. Overseeing good order of the site, as well as the entire storage area & clothing room. Conducting regular site checks and monitoring the day room as necessary. Assuring shower and bathrooms are properly supplied with toiletries. Collaborate with guests and staff to maintain cleanliness and safety of facility. Distribution of supplies as necessary. Document/escalate emergencies as needed. Keep incoming staff informed of ‘need to know’ information during shift changes. Participate in staff meetings and trainings as required.
Skill/Educational Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Housekeeping experience a plus
• Must possess basic computer skills (internet and email)
• Strong interpersonal, organizational & communication skills
• Team-oriented disposition
Physical Requirements
• Frequently required to bend/kneel; walk/climb stairs
• Use of hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls
• Able to regularly lift up to 25 pounds consistently, occasionally lift over 30 pounds
• Spend long periods of time on feet
